We've all gone crazy lately

So, you've been in a job for 6 months. It's supposedly a career, yet they plunked you down in a K-mart desk on an outside corner of the boss's office so that you are basically sitting in a the middle of a hall of cubes. Are you in a Dilbert cartoon? Nope, you're just me.

The company I work for seems to be having the age-old human resources challenge of "recruiting and retaining the top individuals." Yet, those in human resources are left to sit 2, 3, sometimes 4 to a cube while we try to go about our day.

Oh wait, Before you say "well, maybe the company is growing too fast for its space," I forgot to mention...We have an entire floor that is vacant. "WTF?" you say. Well, no one wants their people to move down there because the cubes are 1.5 foot smaller. No, I didn't misplace a decimal point; you read that correctly.

It's also not a situation where the workers don't want to be in the smaller cubes, it's the executive level vice presidents of those strategic areas don't want "Their people" to be a little bit tight. So, they are content at letting us sit 2, 3, and 4 to a cube or conference room, just to prove a point.

And they wonder why people want to leave? Go figure.

why not suggest to your boss that your team can move down there and since there will be so much room with every other team not wanting to be there, you can take down a wall on each cube.

Boom you have double (save the 1.5 feet) the side of the cube all the other teams have!

More space, happier worker, better job proficiency, and jesus...less wasted space! A whole floor?

I know...I'm brilliant ;)

*hugs*

Spoken like a man who has truly never had a boss.

I totally feel your pain, Scotty. Well, not totally totally, as I have my very own desk, but it's in the middle of EVERYTHING. Impossible to concentrate and zero privacy. In fact, everyone in my office is reading this as I type. And those who don't catch the live performance will be sniffing the thread. Nice, right?
