WTF???

On Saturday I received a certified letter from the tax office demanding money or else they were threatening legal action. *I'd sent them 3 checks to pay for this f'ing bill, and they lost the first two...but then found the second one and tried to cash it, dummies*

Name's and such have been removed to protect the innocent, and the stupid.

Dear Sir or Madam:

On Saturday, March 19, I received the attached certified letter at my home regarding a check #*** dated 12/09/04 that you claim was denied due to insufficient funds. The letter then goes on to threaten legal action if the payment is not made in 10 days. I am appalled by this letter for several reasons.

This check was a replacement check written for the 3rd quarter taxes that I sent on 10/22/04. That check was subsequently lost by your **** ***** Tax office. I then sent the above referenced check on 12/9/04 as a replacement after doing a stop-payment on the first check.

I then found out on December 22 that the check you are referencing was supposedly lost by your **** ***** office. I was instructed by ****** at the **** ***** office to do a stop payment and reissue that check. I complied and submitted payment directly at the tax office for the amount of $160, which is the original tax liability minus the 2-$15 charges levied by my bank for performing a stop-payment on each of them.

The attached documentation shows the length to which I went to pay my tax liability to your office, and is a good illustration of the incompetence displayed by your company.

Please send me a corrected invoice showing a zero balance in the next ten business days, so that I may close the books on 2004. If I don't receive a satisfactory response from you within that time, I will be forwarding this case onto the State Attorney General, *** *******'s office for handling.

Sincerely,

*************
