Vroom Vroom

...or Why I hate car shopping.

I hit the road yesterday lookin' for a new set of wheels. It's not that I hate the ones I've got, it's just that I am ready to move on. My Sonata has done well over the past 3 years, but I really don't want to have a car out of warranty, and well, I want one!

So I tried a few cars, and narrowed the list a little bit. Here's a bit of a run-down:

  • Toyota Corolla - Crap. Cheap plastic everything. Rides about as smooth as the Jack Rabbit and is about as quiet.

  • Toyota Prius - Efficient. Odd! I liked a few features in it, such as the mileage and the back-up camera. The rest just drove me nuts. The engines were a bit noisy and the Omni-max display screen with the engine workings annoyed the crap out of me. Talk about distracting!

  • Subaru Legacy - Rugged. Fun. I really loved the way this car handled. It cornered like it was on rails (not of the Jack Rabbit variety) and made me feel pretty safe. It's a bit pricey, and the fabric is a little rough...I could go for leather.

  • Nissan Sentra - Surprising. On a whim, I decided to give Nissan a chance and swung by the dealership for a peak at their offerings. The Sentra has come a long way. It rides smooth, is well loaded, and is pretty sharp-looking.

So it looks like the Sentra and the Legacy are in the lead, but I do want to check out some more cars tomorrow. Stay tuned.
