How Much Does Karma Cost?

...Or, Give a Little

So J, Chris, and I were at the Big Bird today getting some odds and ends for dinner. After checking out, J noticed that the CoinStar had a bunch of change sitting in the "return" bin. For those of you who don't know of these wonders of laziness (I love them), they are machines that, for a small fee, count your change for you. The one drawback of the machine (aside from them keeping 8.9 cents on the dollar), is that it sometimes has issues with change and drops them through a return bin for you to collect or try to recycle through the machine.

J pointed at a pile of change and I noticed that there were a couple of quarters and dimes in there. I thought, "what the hell," and threw the money back through the machine. There are a few options on the thing; you can get cash, money back on your debit card, or even donate to charity. I thought about it for a second and decided to put the money through and donate the proceeds to the Unicef. It turned out to only be about 2.19, but I didn't care. I figured it was a good Karma. Maybe the money was forgotten by some redneck hater whose carelessness has afforded some Ethiopian child rice for a month. Yeah, I feel good about that.

Hey, rednecks need rice, too!

Be careful with those Coinstar machines. I made smoke come out of one once due to a wayward safety pin.

You are a good person. I bitched because I had to donate my United miles so that they don't all expire. That makes me an evil person. People like you balance the existence of people like me ;)
